Invisalign Can Straighten Your Teeth Without The Embarrassment Of Braces

Are your teeth crooked or misaligned? If the answer is yes, you may want to consider talking to your dentist about getting your teeth straightened. Until relatively recently, the only option for patients to effectively straighten their teeth was to get fitted for braces. Although braces are effective at straightening your teeth, the discomfort and appearance of braces are disadvantages. Luckily, advances in technology have led to Invisalign becoming an effective way to straighten your teeth without using braces. Since 1999, millions of people have straightened their teeth using Invisalign’s clear aligner system. If you are considering orthodontic treatment to straighten your teeth, make sure to talk with your dentist about Invisalign.

How Invisalign Works

The first thing you should do if you are thinking about Invisalign is to have a conversation with your dentist to go over your options and see if you are a candidate for Invisalign. If your teeth are extremely misaligned, it is possible that you will still need to wear braces to correct your problems. Your dentist will also be able to go over costs and insurance information with you. Once you and your dentist have determined that Invisalign is the best option for you, he or she will begin the process by taking impressions, X-rays and pictures of your teeth. From these, a digital 3-D image will be created. By using a special software system, your dentist will then be able to map out how your teeth will move throughout the process. You will even be able to see what your teeth will look like when your treatment is over. Your dentist will then use the software to fashion your first set of clear aligners.

When you have received your aligners, you will wear them on your teeth for 20-22 hours per day every day. After two weeks, you will switch to your next pair and little by little, your teeth will begin to move. Approximately every six weeks you will have an appointment with your dentist to monitor your progress and make any necessary changes to your treatment. After you have finished wearing your last set of aligners, you will simply stop wearing them and start enjoying your new and improved smile.

Benefits Of Invisalign

The most obvious benefit to Invisalign is that no one will be able to know that you are straightening your teeth when you are doing so. The aligners you will wear are perfectly clear and not easily detectable. In addition, Invisalign aligners are completely removable. This means you will be free to eat whatever you want without having to worry about food getting caught in your braces. You are also free to brush and floss your teeth without restriction, which will make it easy to maintain your dental health throughout your treatment.
